Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative conversation style to strengthen a person’s own motivation and commitment to change (Miller & Rollnick, Motivational Interviewing: Helping People Change 3rd ed, 2013).
Through this introductory workshop, you will develop the knowledge and skills in MI designed to help your clients explore and resolve ambivalence related to behaviour change.
Over the course of the day, you will learn about the Spirit of MI, the principles and processes that support the approach, to recognize, elicit and respond to change talk, and explore strategies related to behaviour change.
The format includes presentation, video, small group activities, large group discussions, and experiential opportunities to practice foundational communication skills.
